SANTA YNEZ VALLEY
Santa Ynez, founded in 1882, has retained an old western atmosphere. Sagunto Street, which runs through the middle of town, has traditional western façade buildings and a laid back country atmosphere. In addition to several popular restaurants, there are several valley businesses and retail shops located here, as well as a post office, feed store, a locally owned coffee shop and hardware store. The western feel is made complete by one of the valley’s institutions, the Maverick Saloon, which has live music and country western dancing on select evenings. Also on the main street is the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum and Carriage House, which is the home of one of the finest collections of classic horse drawn carriages on the west coast. Adjacent to the Santa Ynez township is the Chumash Indian reservation and the Chumash casino, which, in recent years, has attracted many well known performers to its stage. Santa Ynez has a reputation of being authentic, honest and down to earth; a family oriented and welcoming community.
